1. What are the most important results for Switzerland?
Swiss respondents evaluate the entrepreneurial environment in Switzerland on a higher level compared to other countries: principally, the availability of technology and the supportive education system in step with the economic situation.

2. What are the most surprising results for your country?
When compared with EU and global averages, Swiss respondents show a higher level of self-confidence about all aspects of being able to start a business . The Swiss are highly supported by family and friends to start an entrepreneurial career. Especially compared to EU and global averages, the higher level of risk taking and the ability to raise money for the
business is remarkable. Needs for support differ in Switzerland compared to other countries. Operational skills to start a business are in high demand in Switzerland and the founder needs more support for administration/operations.
3. Considering the results of the survey, could you please explain the situation concerning
women and men starting a business in your country?
Firstly, several results show there is not a remarkable difference between men and women.
Secondly, there is a notable difference regarding how to run a business. Viewing the business purpose, women clearly prefer socially-oriented businesses (70%) and less profitoriented businesses (30%). Personal customer contact is important for men in Switzerland (83%), but women`s preference here is even higher: 9 out of 10 choose the personal and
not the digital way .
Thirdly, women rate all elements of the entrepreneurial environment in Switzerland on a lower level. Especially noteworthy is the lower level of availability of technology for women.
4. Considering the results of our survey, could you please explain the situation of the young,
middle aged, and older respondents for starting a business in your country?
The younger population in Switzerland do not see entrepreneurship as a career path. The results show a lower desire to start a business and young, Swiss respondents do not feel prepared to start a business. The results declined distinctly from 2015 to 2017, with a greater gap from 2016 to 2017.
Interestingly, the need for support shows that under 35-year-old respondents need more help for their business idea compared to the older groups. Support in marketing is also less needed.
